When we started out, we extracted all of the policies (promises) from the government’s 2017 election manifesto, and logged them in a spreadsheet. There were 694 of them, spread across 16 categories.
Since then, a small but committed group of volunteers have been writing verdicts for each of the promises, tackling one category at a time.
It takes a lot of time to analyse, write and review a ‘verdict’ for one policy, but there are now just three categories remaining which still require policy analysis. They are:
Rather than wait for an entire category to be completed before we publish the policies, we are now publishing each policy as soon as it is written and reviewed. Once all of the policies are up there, we’ll remove the ‘beta’ message bar, and also update the text next to the donut chart (the bit that says “of the policies tracked so far”). It’s taken a while, but we’re nearly there. What’s more, we have the website, editorial system and tools in place to start straight way whenever there is a new government.
If you’d like to help us complete the final policies, all you need to do is sign-up to get access to all of the tools and information you need. It’s open to everyone, and you don’t need specialist knowledge to start. And you’ll be amazed at what you can learn!
